St Katharine Docks Welcome Back Clipper Race Crews

After almost a year at sea, sailing more than 40,000 miles, this weekend (12-13 July) sees the finish of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race, and the return of the 12 yachts to St Katharine Docks in London.

More than 650 crew members have taken part in this, the ninth edition of the biennial event conceived by legendary yachtsman Sir Robin Knox-Johnston. Sir Robin became the first person to sail solo non-stop around the world in 1968-69 and established the Clipper Race in 1996 to offer amateurs of all ages, from all walks of life the opportunity to experience the thrill of ocean racing and a circumnavigation of the planet.

Teams in the race include Old Pulteney, our whisky supplier, and Mercy Ships, our chosen charity partner for 2014, so we will be especially excited to welcome them back. If you live in or around London, or plan to visit this weekend, don’t forget to stop by St Katharine Docks, next to Tower Bridge, for the chance to see the clipper yachts and, perhaps, talk to some of the crew about their adventure.

The docks provide a unique and stunning setting for the spectacular yachts, and our store is perfectly located at the centre of the event, offering a large range of boating and outdoor leisure clothing alongside our traditional brass instruments, model ships, and collectables.

We look forward to welcoming you.
