Liverpool’s Waterfront brought to life with a season of spectacular events

If you live in or around Liverpool, or plan to visit this summer, don’t miss the chance to enjoy some very special events taking place on the Waterfront near our Albert Dock store.

From 23-26 May, Liverpool will host the three Queens of the Cunard Cruise Line – Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria, and Queen Elizabeth who will meet in the River Mersey for the first time in an event that will make maritime history, marking Cunard’s 175th anniversary. More than a million spectators turned out to welcome Queen Elizabeth 2 when she first visited the River Mersey in 1990, so having all three Queens on the Mersey together is an event that will live long in the memories of all who witness it.

As darkness falls, things get even more spectacular - the Amazing Graces event will bring the Waterfront to life with a display of lasers and projected images, using the ships and surrounding buildings as a canvas upon which to tell the story of Liverpool’s rich maritime and cultural heritage.

Following this once-in-a-lifetime event, the International Mersey River Festival will take place on the Pier Head and Albert Dock sites from 5-7 June with activities for all the family. Tall Ships, naval vessels and barges are just some of the boats people can explore. Walking tours, air shows, model boat displays, flyboarding and have a go water sports sessions ensure everyone can get involved. Alongside, the inaugural edition of the Northern Boat Show will see around 150 exhibitors and 60 boats attending the show.

The Festival draws to a close in July with a celebration of the first transatlantic crossing, as Cunard’s flagship Queen Mary 2 sails from Liverpool, recreating the 1840 voyage of Britannia from Liverpool to Halifax and Boston.

Our shop in Liverpool’s Albert Dock is perfectly located at the centre of the festivities, offering a large range of boating and outdoor leisure clothing alongside our traditional brass instruments, model ships, and collectables.

We look forward to welcoming you.
