HMS Victory, Lord Nelson & Trafalgar

HMS Victory is the oldest commissioned warship in the world, and is still manned by the Royal Navy. Her most famous action was against Napoleon and the French at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805, under the command of Admiral Lord Nelson. The battle was won by the English, but Nelson was tragically killed by a sniper's bullet. It was decided that Victory should be preserved as a lasting reminder of the Royal Navy's supremacy in the days of sail, and today she attracts over 350,000 visitors each year.
