This tough, Irish made sweater is dedicated to Tom Crean (see below), replicating a favourite that he wore on many of his expeditions (see image). It's made from 100% wool, tight-woven with roll neck and cuffs for insulation. Feels like an old faithful from day one.
Brief History - Antarctic explorer Thomas Crean was heroic, even in the age of heroes: his most incredible feat came in the aftermath of Scott's ill-fated expedition to the South Pole, battling back to base with Lt Evans & Lashly. After 1,500 miles, the three were tantalisingly close, but exhausted, starving, and, in the case of Evans, all-but dead. Crean volunteered to do the last 35 miles alone, without tent, sleeping bag or skis, and after 18hrs of stumbling and crawling reached the base hut to alert rescuers to the plight of the other two. He was subsequently awarded the Albert Medal.
Sizes are actual chest measurements.
