Boiled wool was traditionally specified for the best quality reefer and pea jackets – mainly for its superior wind and water resistance (even today it offers the best protection available from a natural material), but also making them softer to the touch and less scratchy.

This authentic reefer is hand made in England from just such a fabric, sourced in Tuscany, which has a lovely thick feel and superb depth of colour. It is unlined, with bound internal seams, requiring (and displaying) the very highest standard of workmanship – not comparable with mass production items you’ll find on the High Street.

It has the over-size deep collar and removable button-across throat tab you’d expect of a garment to protect you from North Sea gales!
