4714 Mini Infantry Sword, £29.99
The history of the Infantry Officer's sword began with the official announcement from King George III:
His Majesty having been pleased to order that the Battalion Officers are for the future to make use of swords, its His Majestys pleasure that the officers of the Infantry Corps shall be provided with a strong, substantial, uniform sword, the blade of which is to be straight and made to cut and thrust.
Considered by some to be the best fighting sword ever issued to a British officer.
Our miniature sword is an intricate replica of the 1897 pattern sword still carried by Infantry officers serving today.
Both the original and our replica feature the closed nickel-plated three-quarter basket hilt and a back-piece. The grip on the original would have been black fish-skin wrapped with a silver plated copper wire. Length 12". Comes in presentation box.
