£1950.00
RN047 The Bicentenary Bowl, £1950.00
*** Limited Edition of 47***
This magnificent bowl has become the centrepiece of the Remember Nelson Collection. The Bicentenary Bowl is surely one of the finest collectables ever produced to celebrate Nelson.
This bowl is simply stunning. Standing more than 12.75 inches tall it demands attention as the centrepiece of any display or collection. Designed by David Williams.
The Bicentenary Bowl is being issued in an edition limited to 47 - one for each year of Nelson's life. The design has been hand-engraved onto each bowl by Dartington Crystal's Master Engraver, Nick Davey. On the face, it features Nelson's profile in a cartouche surrounded by naval artefacts. Around the rim is Nelson's celebrated flag signal before Trafalgar, 'England Expects That Every Man Will Do His Duty'. On the rear of the bowl is an engraved representation of the Battle of Trafalgar with both British and combined Spanish/French fleets depicted in extraordinary detail. The bowl sits on an elegant base of Victory oak incorporating a small piece of Victory copper in its centre. The oak and copper have been recovered from HMS Victory during refitting and thereby provide an authentic and direct link between the bowl and the momentous events of October 1805.
Each bowl is accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity attesting to its number within the limited edition and to the provenance of the oak base. With this prestige piece being issued in such a small edition, early reservation is absolutely essential to avoid disappointment.
