With a torch that can be charged by winding a handle, you will never run out of power/light at an inconvenient time. But until now nobody has managed to make a charging mechanism that is waterproof, so they weren't as suitable for outdoor pursuits. This one is waterproof to 33ft and you can also use it to charge your mobile phone, using the adapters supplied (compatible with about 90% of phones).
The beam is switchable between a powerful 1-watt single LED, giving 20mins use after one minute's winding, and two smaller LEDs for closer work, lasting 60mins. There is also a mains charger.
