Pewterware From The Admiral's Table!
NOW from £14.95
In the days of sail, naval officers were generally from rich aristocratic families, and used to eating their food from gold and silver plates. Fearing that they might lose such valuable items over the side, many chose to use pewter tableware at sea instead, still implying a higher social status than their crew. Our simple-design, heavyweight pewter is typical of that used between the 14th and 19th centuries, and is similar to items from Henry VIII's Mary Rose and Lord Nelson's HMS Victory. Unlike the originals, these do not contain lead and are food safe.
