The instantly-recognisable Aston Martin DB5 is best known for its roles in the James Bond movies Goldfinger and Thunderball achieving fame almost equal to the films’ star Sean Connery.
Although Ian Fleming placed Bond in a DB Mark III in the novel, the DB5 was the company's newest model when Goldfinger was being made, and Aston Martin’s original prototype was used in the film.
A step up in power from the DB4 which it replaced in 1963, the DB5 boasted 282bhp from its straight-6 4.0L engine, and a top speed of 145mph.
Standard equipment included: reclining seats, electric windows, full leather trim in the cabin and even a fire extinguisher – state-of-the-art specification in its day.
