Volkswagen Kombi 'Light' Woodstock Van 1:12 Scale Model
£99.99
90682 Volkswagen Kombi Van, £99.99
***Limited Edition of 3,000***
The Volkswagen Kombi T1 or Microbus entered production in March 1950. With its innovative design, where the driver was placed over the front wheels and the engine at the rear, the Kombi was extremely versatile and was produced in several forms including as a delivery van, minibus, flat bed truck, and a camper van.
Cheap to buy second-hand, it could carry a number of passengers, camping gear and supplies. It became an icon of the 60s and, in particular, of the hippie sub culture. One of the most enduring examples is the Woodstock Bus, lavishly painted with religious symbolism by Dr Robert Hieronimus in 1968 for Bob Grimm of the band "Light", which he drove with Rick Peters, Trudy Morgul and Walt Bailey to the original Woodstock in 1969. Photographed by Rolling Stone magazine at the time, it is still regularly seen printed in media today.
This immaculate 1:12 scale diecast model, produced in 2009 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Woodstock, is constructed from more than 600 parts with a wealth of authentic detail including: opening doors, engine with separate HT leads, fan belt, alternator, starter motor, fully-functioning steering, removable wheels, and instrument cases. Supplied with numbered certificate and gift box.
