If you’ve ever come home from a winter walk convinced your ears were going to drop off, spare a thought for the Swedes! The proper solution is this (Swedish designed and made) ear-flap hat, crafted from pliant-but-wind-impenetrable elk hide and lined with lamb’s fur and quilted nylon fabric. 

A Velcro strap holds the flaps up on warmer days, and securely under your chin when it’s “gone Arctic”. The front does a similar trick, to protect your forehead and, to some extent, eyes.
