8817 Boulton's Trafalgar Medal, £39.95
Matthew Boulton, of Soho Mint, manufactured Trafalgar medals at his own expense for issue to those who fought at the battle. He hoped for good publicity but many sailors took the medals as an insult and threw them overboard! However they were well-produced and the portrait of Nelson is believed to be a very true likeness - the rare originals are now highly collectable. Our replica is cast from reclaimed HMS Victory copper, set in an oak and copper base made from salvaged materials from HMS Victory during its refit.
