Traditional timing most carriage clocks these days are quartz, but nothing beats the reassuring ambience of a mechanical tick in the background. This one has an eight-day movement, housed in an unusual oval-shaped solid brass case with glazed top, sides and back so that you can see the intricate workings. The escapement, viewed from the top, is particularly captivating. It all feels reassuringly solid, as you would expect from a British clockmaker established in 1860, and is surprisingly heavy by modern standards. Measures 6x4x2.5".
