Introduced in 1860 by Admiral Fitzroy - provider of the world's first weather forecasting service and earlier Captain of H.M.S. Beagle (of Charles Darwin fame). The instrument has a mercury barometer with his instructions for interpreting the pressure changes, plus a thermometer, and a chemical weatherglass.
Solid mahogany case with lacquered brass fittings. Measures 38x8½". Made in England.
