The Polaris is a special equatorial sundial, that can display any world time zone, or local apparent time (solar time), plus the position of the sun anywhere in the world. Set-up is straightforward, depending on latitude (it will work from 35-70 deg, North or South) and the detailed manual explains the various uses of the rotating dials with an admirable lack of jargon. Even if you only use it as a conventional sundial after the first few times, it is a very fine display object, precision-crafted from stainless steel with maps made from thermally-layered mineral glass – all suitable for long-term use outdoors.
