7604 HMS Prince, £59.00
Built at the Thames in 1786, the Prince of Wales, (usually abbreviated to HMS Prince) was part of the "First Fleet" which on 13 May 1787, left Portsmouth, England for Botany Bay, the second harbour of what is now Sydney. The fleet consisted of 11 Navy Ships, carrying nearly 800 convicts and settlers, of which HMS Prince carried 50, 1 male and 49 women! She was of 350 tons and skippered by Master John Mason. Thomas Townshend, "Baron Sydney", commissioned the fleet and was under the overall command of Capt Arthur Phillip, and carried instructions to establish a penal colony at or near Botany Bay. The innovative moulding process we specify to manufacture the hull of these display models enables us to include an incredible amount of intricate detail. We have put particular focus on improving the accuracy/scaling of the rigs and fittings such as anchors, cannons and longboats.
Comes supplied completely assembled ready for display, and accompanied by a history leaflet.
