99061 Bassett-Lowke Patriot Class, £695.00
***Limited Edition of 180***
Bassett Lowke O gauge electric model steam trains are individually made from soldered sheet metal, much as they have been since the company started in 1899. The quality is superb, with beautiful paintwork and detailing, and, whilst most model steam trains are fully functional, many are now bought by collectors for display.
This model is of LMS Patriot Class passenger steam train no 45534, a rebuilt Claughton Class inherited from the old LNWR. Well that is what it was on paper (to appease the accountants!): most were actually new-builds and this one was built in 1933. Upon nationalisation in 1948 she was (genuinely) rebuilt in the 6P class, re-liveried BR green (as modelled) and continued in service until May 1964.
It is steam powered like a real steam train. It has a boiler inside which you fill with water then this is heated by an electric heater which takes electric power from the track (whereas a real train uses coal to heat the water).
Limited Edition of 180, individually numbered.
This incredibly rare Patriot Class steam locomotive is a fantastic treat for model railway enthusiasts and those old enough to appreciate the bygone era of steam trains.
Combined engine and tender length 20.
