Telescopic boat hooks are a great idea in principle, but most are poorly engineered, relying on twist-friction devices to keep them open, which invariably fail at exactly the wrong moment.

This version has a very positive spring-ball lock instead, and incorporates nitrile rubber (oil and salt-resistant) seals between the telescoping tubes so that it can operate as a long pump, perfect for reaching into the bottom of a tank or bilge. The contents can then be discharged at high pressure, reaching distances of up to 50ft, so it is great for tasks such as washing down the anchor - and also classes as a pretty effective water cannon! The tubes are anodised aluminium and the hook impact-resistant Lexan resin, for durability and a high strength/weight ratio. Extended length 59", stowed 38".
