In February 1961 the Morris Minor became the first British car to sell more than 1,000,000 units, the actual millionth car rolling off the production line on 22 December 1960.
To commemorate the achievement BMC created a special edition of 350 “Morris Minor Millions” featuring distinctive lilac paintwork and a white leather interior. Also the badge name on the side of the bonnet was modified to read "Minor 1,000,000" instead of the standard "Minor 1000". They were distributed to all the BMC showrooms, so that each had a car on display on the official launch date – 4 January 1961. These versions were slow to sell, perhaps due to their vivid colour, but around 1 in 5 of those produced survives today.
Our 1:12 scale model features the same striking lilac paintwork and white interior, and is finished with astonishing attention to detail including: opening doors, bonnet, and boot, functioning steering, and faithfully-replicated engine compartment, even the glove box opens! Length 12”.
