7185 Officer-of-the-Watch Telescope, £149.00
Pride of the Quarterdeck, 18th Century Style! In the days of sail it was traditional for the officer in charge of one watch to pass command to his successor by handing him the ship's telescope, one of the most valuable possessions on board. This fine instrument is based on designs from the time of Nelson, but with more modern optics and a focusing eyepiece (perhaps he would have "seen the ships" with this version!). It has a single draw, so is quick to open for use, and magnifies 20 times through an object lens of 45mm. Folded telescope measures 11" and extends to 18". The casing is in machined, sateen finish brass, with a hand-stitched leather grip. Presentation box measures 12.5 x 3 x 2.75", in sustainable hardwood with brass corners and engraving plate for up to four initials.
