This kettle is not conventional!

The water (up to two pints) goes inside a double skin, with space to light a fire in the separate central chamber. The breeze fans the flames, enhanced by the chimney draw - so once it is going twigs, pine needles, even dried seaweed, can be used as the heat source. It costs nothing to run and perhaps more importantly, can be run where there are no shops selling fuel of any kind - people living in the remote Solomon Islands use these to purify water. About as self-sufficient as it gets - designed over 100 years ago for fishermen on the west coast of Ireland.

Overall height 15", weighs 2-lb.
