***Limited Edition of 1,250*** Brief History: Charles Burrell and Sons, of Thetford, England, were internationally acclaimed manufacturers of steam engines and agricultural machinery. In 1848 they launched both a single-cylinder portable steam engine and the first combined threshing/dressing machine ever to be offered to the public. In 1856 they produced the Burrell-Boydell self-moving engine, using a continuous track drive system that is still used in tanks today. Their heyday was in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, until post World War I, when the internal combustion engine began to take over. Like most engineering artefacts of the Victorian era, they were massively built, and a number of 'Burrells' survive to this day.
'Dorothy No 4093' Road Locomotive, built in 1931, was the last 3-speed Burrell, and was used in Devon for bench work and threshing for most of its life. Restored in the 1960s, Dorothy is still a regular on the steam rally circuit.
