92735 Lightning II Showman's, £299.00

***Limited Edition of 500***

Lightning II
was one of 104 traction engines produced in 1913 - Burrell’s most successful year.

Commissioned for Emerson & Hazard’s family fairground business, it ran and transported a set of galloping horses around the country before being bought by agricultural contractor Richard Preston for threshing and wood-sawing duties.

When, in 1957, the Suez Crisis caused a shortage of diesel forcing many lorries off the road, Lightning II was able to maintain Preston’s haulage contract and thus established Preston’s of Potto as a transport business. Still owned and maintained in working order by the Preston family, Lightning II is now a highlight of the summer steam fair circuit.

Our display model, a fitting tribute, is 1:24 scale, finished in original green livery with a wealth of authentic detail including functioning steering and gear selection.

Length 10”. Limited Edition of 500 with numbered certificate.

Our last image shows the real Lightning Showman's II Engine.

A beautiful item that my husband is very pleased with. Really difficult to get it out of the packaging though. At one point I was afraid it might break. Needed a very tiny screwdriver like you get in a cracker.
