Limited Edition, Hand-sculpted Sea King 'Ace of Clubs' Helicopter
94476 Sea King Ace of Clubs, £399.00
***Limited Edition of 29 Signed Models***
After more than 40 years of Search and Rescue duties, January 2016 marked the retirement of the Sea King helicopter 771 Naval Air Squadron, to be replaced by private contractors. Based at RNAS Culdrose in Cornwall, the famous 771 Ace of Clubs Squadron have been responsible for 1000s of rescues including sailors, walkers, climbers and even airlifting stranded animals from cliffs.
The Sea King, the multi-purpose 'Land Rover of the Skies', has seen active service in Borneo, the Falklands, Bosnia, Iraq and Afghanistan. Despite the retirement of 771 Sqn, one squadron of Sea Kings still remains; 849 Squadron, also based at Culdrose, provides part of the UKs Airborne Early Warning capacity.
A fitting tribute to 771 Sqn, this Mk5 model Sea King has been hand-carved and sculptured from fine-grained mahogany and painted with up to 35 coats of enamel paint. It's a process that can take up to four months before the superbly-detailed model is complete. Before release, the model was shown to 771 squadron members who couldnt fault its accuracy.
Proudly displaying its Ace of Clubs mascot, each of the Limited Edition of just 29 Sea Kings has been signed on the display stand by members of the squadron - greatly adding to its rarity value and collectability.
Rotor span 18. Model length 17. Certificate of authenticity is included.
