PUSSER'S RUM brought cheer to British sailors the world over for over three centuries. It was first introduced in the Tropics (where traditional English ale spoilt rapidly) in 1655, but soon became standard issue across the fleet. The daily ration was controlled by the purser (or pusser, hence the name), and only ceased in 1970 when the Navy decided alcohol should be made available on a normal social basis. This, the genuine Royal Navy Pusser's Rum, is a unique blend of aged pot-still Caribbean rums with an exceptionally smooth, rich flavour. For best effect, sip it "on the rocks", or dilute 3:1 with water as Navy "Grog". The earthenware decanter has an extra wide-base (as used aboard ship to reduce the risk of spillage), and is handcast and decorated, protected with a deep, lustrous glaze to last for generations. Contents one litre, 42% abv.

ALSO AVAILABLE to display your decanter is a round base made from pieces of oak salvaged from HMS Victory, mounted on a leather base. A slice of HMS Victory copper rivet is set into the centre, stamped with a commemorative logo. Inside diameter is 9".
