Beatrix Potter's 150th Birthday Collectable Tea Party Set
91026 Beatrix Potter Tea Set, £159.99
Peter Rabbit, Squirrel Nutkin, Jemima Puddleduck, Samuel Whiskers...The characters created by Beatrix Potter were to make her the second most popular childrens author in the world - only Lewis Carroll is more widely read.
Born in Kensington in 1866, Beatrix was a lonely little rich girl brought up by a series of nurses. She taught herself to draw to amuse the children of her governess friends and this quickly led to picture books and, in 1903, publication. In 1905 she moved to the Lake District which provided the ideal setting for many of her stories, encouraged her interest in natural history and led to her keen support for The National Trust.
To celebrate the 150th anniversary of her birth, were delighted to introduce this charming Beatrix Potter tea set. Made in Germany by the Reutter Porcelain company and decorated with illustrations of Peter Rabbit and friends, it comprises four cups, saucers and plates, with a teapot, milk jug and sugar bowl.
Presented in a picnic basket box measuring 14x9x6" - its a lovely collectors set that would also make a wonderful birthday or christening gift.
