93316 Three Concordes Print, £289.00

***Limited Edition of just 250***

Occasionally a particular route in aviation progress comes to a halt. It happened to the Catalina Flying Boats and the hovercraft. Eleven years ago it happened to the Concordes.

The costs of supporting the fleet had spiralled, the September 11 attacks had sparked an unprecedented downturn in the airline industry, and passenger numbers had never completely recovered following the Paris air disaster in 2000 and, in April 2003, it was announced that Concorde could no longer be made commercially viable. On October 24, 2003 - the final day for super-sonic civil aviation - all three Concordes flew into Heathrow, landing simultaneously. With Union Flags waving from the cockpit windows they saluted the waiting crowds.

Then, after the passengers including Sir David Frost, Joan Collins, Jeremy Clarkson, Bernie Ecclestone and Darcey Bussell had disembarked, the most recognised planes in the world lined up on the tarmac.

A never-to-be-repeated moment that was captured, brilliantly, by photographer Adrian Meredith. A Limited Edition of just 250, it is framed with a printed matt art paper finish and signed by the pilots.

Size 27x22”.
