300 years ago, Samuel Bellamy, a poverty-stricken sailor, fell in love. Unfortunately, Maria Hallet's parents thought he wasn't good enough - so he went to sea to seek his fortune. The plan was to search shipwrecks for treasure, but piracy turned out to be more lucrative. One day they came upon the Whydah, a three-masted English slave ship carrying £20,000 in gold and silver, and the moment of capture is pictured here. Such a fortune was enough for Sam to turn his back on piracy, and go back for his girl, but unfortunately on the way home his ship sank during a storm and all but two of the crew perished! 1000 pieces, completed jigsaw measures 27x19".
