Japanese Ryoba Saw
£39.95
98087 Ryoba Saw, £39.95
Japanese saws cut on the pull stroke, in contrast to the push saws that are more familiar to most of us in the West. This means the blade is under tension during the cut, so can be much thinner and requires little or no tooth "set" - giving far greater precision and much less waste in the form of sawdust. In practice you will soon find that you can cut much closer to the line than you would ever have dared with a "normal" saw, and thus spend much less time trimming back with a chisel or plane. Newcomers to carpentry find them easier to use, whilst those with more experience wish they had tried them before.
Selected for us by a famous Japanese carpenter, this superb professional quality double-sided saw is scraped thinner in the centre to prevent binding in a deep cut. One side is used for ripping (fast cutting), with smaller teeth nearer the handle to assist starting the cut, and the other side has crosscut teeth for ultra-fine work.
Blade length 8", overall length 21".
