Dried food is lightweight, space-saving and lasts for long periods without the need for refrigeration or preservatives - so it is ideal for ocean voyaging and camping trips, and also preserving seasonal crop excesses (such as apples from the garden), or spare meal portions. Almost every food type can be dried, from fruit and vegetables (chopped or pureed) to stew, curry and baby food. Many fruits are delicious in their dried or roll-up form (the condensed pieces have a more intense flavour) whilst cooked dishes can be easily re-hydrated in a pan of boiling water (much more appetising than the commercially-produced version!). They also make excellent dried beef jerky and biltong. The unique construction of the EZIDRI range ensures fast, even drying without the need for tray rotation or loss of nutritional value inherent with slower processes. Because each tray has its own separate air supply and "exhaust" different food types can be dried without any risk of contamination between layers.
