The SAS David Stirling Medal, Licensed by the Ministry of Defence
93792 SAS David Stirling Medal, £49.99
This limited edition medal is the first ever SAS item to be licensed in this way by the Ministry of Defence.
Produced as a strictly Limited Edition of just 999, these Sterling silver plated, hand-struck medals are issued to celebrate 100 years since the birth of Colonel Sir David Stirling DSO OBE, founder of the Special Air Service - SAS. Born on 15 November, 1915, Stirling joined the Army in 1937 and became convinced that small groups of highly-trained soldiers could, in targeted circumstances, do far more damage to the enemy than much larger forces. He put the concept to his superiors and the SAS was formed in 1941. Stirling lead many dangerous operations throughout the war and was awarded for his bravery and leadership.
The medals are 50mm in diameter and are presented in a handcrafted wooden box carrying the famous SAS motto Who Dares Wins. Includes a hand-numbered certificate of authenticity.
