Completed, these 1:12 scale model canoes are stunning, and the construction is so authentic that many aspiring boat builders use them as practice before they undertake a larger project. The building process is identical in all respects but size; from the assembly of temporary "formers" on a strong-back, and the fittings of each narrow strip plank, to finishing and fairing. Our model is of a beautiful 16 foot "Peterborough" Canadian-built canoe, similar to those that were shipped to England over 100 years ago (one of which is now owned by HRH Queen Elizabeth II).
