Le Soleil Royal could be described as France's answer to Sovereign of the Seas! Built in 1669, with 104 cannon, she also had three full gundecks and was highly decorated - including carvings of the sun god (she was named for the "Sun King", Louis XIV). She saw some success in what were almost regular 17th century Anglo- French battles over the English Channel, but in 1692 she was driven aground at Cherbourg and destroyed by Royal Navy fireships. Length 17".
