Royal Yacht Britannia Model
£99.00
1953 Royal Yacht Britannia, £99.00
On 11 December 1997, at precisely one minute past three in the afternoon, Queen Elizabeth II was piped ashore for the final time from Britain's last Royal Yacht. 44 years earlier, she had stood on a raised platform high above the Clydebank shipyard of John Brown & Co and pressed the button that launched Ship Number 691 into the Clyde.
The Queen together with ther husband, Prince Philip, took a guiding hand in the design of the yacht, personally approving the plans prepared by Sir Hugh Casson, Consultant Archetect, and selecting furniture, fabrics and paintings.
Our highly detailed model has a finely moulded fibreglass hull painted to a high gloss finish. The varnished wooden decks are surrounded by metal railings. One of the six ships boats is the Royal Barge, the boat that transported the Royal party to and from Britannia and on many independent journeys away from the ship.
Length 18.5", height 8.5".
