97011 Grand Complication, £295.00
Accurist has been the official timekeeper at the Greenwich Observatory since 1993 and, as you would expect from such an association, their reputation for building accurate and reliable timepieces is exceptional. This limited edition watch is part of the officially-licensed Greenwich Commemorative Series.
First created by the Swiss watchmaker Sonnenburg in 1890, the Grand Complication was the ultimate expression of his art; "the watch that had everything" Accurist's version features the full set of "complications" - the perpetual month, day and date (including auto adjustment for leap years); moon age; chronograph; chime; 24 hr display (different time zone if you wish) - but is powered by a quartz movement to provide accuracy that could only have been dreamt of in the 19th century.
The case and strap is made from highly polished stainless steel, with a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glass. Has contrasting gold coloured bezel and strap highlights. Splashproof.
WORLDWIDE LIMITED EDITIONS OF 2,000, individually numbered and certificated, supplied in a wooden presentation box. Less than 40 available (Oct 2007).
