Brief History
2015 marks HMS Victory’s 250th anniversary. Designed by Sir Thomas Slade and launched in 1765 she was the ultimate Georgian warship. One of the most powerful weapons systems afloat, she was armed with 102 guns plus two carronades in the fo’c’sle, she displaced approximately 3,500 tons and carried a crew of about 850.

Six thousand trees - 90% of them British oak - went into her construction and this First Class Ship of The Line cost the Admiralty £63,176 3s - approximately £46.5 million in today’s reckoning. HMS Victory remains a commissioned warship - the oldest in the world – and today she serves as flagship to the First Sea Lord. A royalty from sales of these products goes to the National Museum of the Royal Navy for the ongoing preservation of our naval heritage.
