Sailor's Storage Chests

The only place a sailor really had to himself was his wooden chest: repository for clothing, tools, love letters and keepsakes. There were all number of designs - dependent on the whims of the ship's carpenter - but the base was usually wider than the top, for stability, and the corners dovetailed, for strength. Beckets (rope handles) were the sailor's own work, a demonstration of his knotting skills. Originals from the 18th and 19th centuries are now sought after and fetch large sums at auction.
These hand-made replicas are very realistic, from the planked construction to the "weathered" finish that makes them look just right. Great for spare bedding, seasonal clothing etc.
