Highly Detailed, Hand Carved Concorde Model. 21 January 2016 marked the 40th anniversary of the first commercial flights by Concorde and the start of an era of luxury supersonic passenger travel. At 11.30am, a British Airways, and an Air France aircraft, departed London’s Heathrow Airport together flying to Bahrain and Rio respectively. With her unmistakable appearance and thunderous Rolls Royce Olympus engines, she instantly captured attention wherever she flew and remains a much-loved icon more than a decade after she was retired. This commemorative model, hand-carved from solid mahogany and painted in 30 coats of enamel for a pristine finish, depicts Concorde G-BOAA in her BA Negus livery. At 1:148 scale she measures 16” long with a 6½” wingspan.

Concorde made her first test flight on 2 March 1969, and 'went supersonic' on 1 October the same year. She then entered service with British Airways and Air France in 1976 and took her last commercial flight on 24 October 2003, having completed over 50,000 flights.
