Details
The agile and highly manoeuvrable Sopwith Camel was without doubt one of the most successful fighter aircraft of the First World War and accounted for more enemy aircraft destroyed than any other British type. The name ‘Camel’ derives from the hump-shaped fairing that housed the two 0.303in Vickers machine guns. Sopwith Camel B6313 is modelled here at 1:48 scale in the colours of No.139 Squadron, as piloted by Major William George ‘Billy’ Barker in the Italy campaign of 1917-18. During this period, Barker flew more than 400 hours and shot down 46 enemy aircraft. He remains Canada’s most highly decorated serviceman with DSO & Bar, MC & Two Bars, and the Victoria Cross to his name. Our model has a wingspan of 7”, and a wealth of authentic detail including rotatable wood grain-effect propeller, weapons, rigging, and crew, and one of a worldwide limited edition of 1,000.

Limited Edition

Art prints and collectables are often produced as numbered limited editions, and are provided with certificates confirming their authenticity and position within the collection. This limited availablilty increases their value, making them more desirable. Take the opportunity to be one of only a few people in the world to own this model.

Corgi

The Corgi brand was created by the Mettoy Company of Northampton which first started to produce colourful, pressed metal toys in the 1930s. The first models appeared in 1956 and covered British-built saloon cars of the period. Names redolent with nostalgia including the Ford Consul, Austin Cambridge, Morris Cowley, Riley Pathfinder, Vauxhall Velox, Rover 90 and Hillman Husky were among the first to be produced. Each model sold for 3/- (15p).
