Limited Availability. We have obtained the last few of these lamps from our supplier's stocks. They are available in limited quantities and, once sold, they will not be replenished. Originally designed to burn all night, to warn other vessels, whilst at anchor, these lamps are sturdily constructed from copper, with brass fittings and chunky glass lenses. Hanging loops are provided top and bottom to enable ease of mounting. Our electric version requires a E27 fitting bulb (max 25W), and measures 27cm tall (excluding handle).

Copper

Copper has long been associated with the sea - its remarkable resistance to saltwater corrosion as well as marine parasites led shipbuilders to clad their timber hulls with copper sheathing plates for durability that far outweighed the substantial initial cost (hence the phrase "copper-bottomed investment").
