Dad's Army first appeared on TV screens in 1968 and was written by Jimmy Perry and David Croft. The series is based in the fictional seaside town of Walmington-On-Sea.
It recounts the misadventures of the local voluntary defence force (or 'Home Guard') consisting of men too old, too young, or 'unfit' for military service. The programme is still popular today.
