***Limited Edition of just 100*** Taken from a watercolour original by David Bell. Once upon a time small boys dreamed of becoming engine drivers. This magnificent painting illustrates why. It shows the A3 60096 loco ‘Papyrus’ about to leave York Station circa 1949. Renowned railway artist David Bell has deployed all his creativity and skill in this truly evocative work. Watercolour - often associated with pastoral scenes - proves an ideal medium for portraying the hissing steam, belching smoke and sulphurous atmosphere that these fire-breathing leviathans created. You can almost smell the oil, coal dust and hot metal. The sheer power and magnificence of the machines provides a nostalgic glimpse of the ‘golden age’ of steam in a genuine collector’s work of art. High quality Giclée printed and framed, it measures 27x20". But remember, this edition is limited to just 100 so please order promptly to avoid disappointment.

David Bell

David C Bell was born in Lincolnshire. After attending Trinity House Navigation School in Hull, David Bell embarked upon a career at sea as a navigating cadet in the Merchant Navy. Having spent time at sea drawing and painting he felt his true course in life was to paint full-time. So, after nine years sailing around the world as a ship's navigator, he left the sea to become an art student. After gaining a B.A. in Art David Bell set about fulfilling his ambition as a Marine Artist.
