Details
In 1742, Deptford Dockyard was the Royal Navy Victualling Board’s main spirit depot; housing 30 storage vats which accommodated and aged more than 250,000 gallons of rum. From here, they supplied the Fleet with a flavourful blend of ‘Empire’ rums from British Navy suppliers located in Demerara (Guyana), Trinidad, Barbados, and Jamaica. While little is known about early Admiralty specifications, the blend was done “in such proportion as experience had shown was preferred by the men.”
The final daily rum ration was served on 31 July 1970 at 6 bells in the forenoon watch (11am), ending a Royal Navy tradition of more than 300 years. Some sailors wore black armbands, tots were 'buried at sea' and in one navy training camp there was a mock funeral procession complete with black coffin and accompanying drummers and piper.
To commemorate the 52nd anniversary of Black Tot Day, as it became known, Pusser’s have introduced their limited-edition Deptford Dockyard Reserve at Navy proof, featuring a blend of aged, high-ester distillates from Caribbean countries in Great Britain’s naval past. Aged for a minimum of three years in charred oak bourbon barrels, to impart additional smoothness and flavour, Deptford Dockyard Reserve is medium-bodied with a flavour of Christmas cake spices and a suggestion of sea salt that leads to a satisfying and dry Sherry finish. 70cl, 54.5% abv.

Pusser's
"For more than three centuries, the daily ration of Pusser's Navy Rum brought cheer to British sailors the world over.
Pusser's rum was first introduced for crews working in the tropics (where traditional English ale spoilt rapidly) in 1655, but soon became standard issue across the fleet. The daily ration of rum was controlled by the purser (or pusser, hence the name) and only ceased in 1970 when the navy decided alcohol should be made available on a normal social basis."
