Featuring reproductions of paintings by renowned railway artist David Bell, our range of Placemats shows six of the most iconic steam locomotives set in historically accurate locations. Flying Scotsman and Mallard steaming out of King's Cross. Sir William Stanier at Euston. Oliver Cromwell, Bocastle and Cock O’ the North make up this impressive set. The Placemats have brief narratives giving the locomotive’s backgrounds and their significance. Coasters are of the same high quality as our Placemats, but without the narratives. They have tough lacquer-finished tops, are heat resistant to 100 degrees, cork backed. Both come as a boxed sets of 6. Tablemat measures 11½x8½", coasters measures 4½x4½". David Bell
David C Bell was born in Lincolnshire. After attending Trinity House Navigation School in Hull, David Bell embarked upon a career at sea as a navigating cadet in the Merchant Navy. Having spent time at sea drawing and painting he felt his true course in life was to paint full-time. So, after nine years sailing around the world as a ship's navigator, he left the sea to become an art student. After gaining a B.A. in Art David Bell set about fulfilling his ambition as a Marine Artist.
