How do I open this to change the batteries?

The clock can be removed from the front of the wooden plinth. The battery housing can then accessed, opened and the battery replaced

How To Start The Clock

The clock came out of the box and was not ticking. How do I get it to start?

Remove the clock from the stand and pull the plastic tab to activate the battery.
