Details
This beautiful mechanical wall clock is handmade in England by Comitti, London's last surviving traditional clock manufacturer.
The cabinet is made from solid cherry with curl veneer to the pediment and with a polished mahogany finish. Glazed front and sides so that action of the movement is fully visible. The eight day Westminster chime movement has a silencer and automatic chime sequence correction after setting the hands. The dial has an enamel finish with period hands. All the solid brass furniture is lacquered to prevent tarnishing. Height 26", width 9", depth 6". A rare example of the art of the British clockmaker. Usual delivery time approx. 6 to 8 weeks (please call 01932 235550 if more urgent) - sorry no Express service.

Comitti

In 1850 Onorato Comitti, an Italian precision instrument maker, opened his workshop in Clerkenwell, London. In a very short time he gained a reputation for superb workmanship and in 1888 the company was acknowledged with a Diploma of Honour as one of the finest barometer and clockmakers in England. Comitti remains a family-run business which continues to maintain the company’s international reputation for luxury English timepieces in traditional and contemporary finishes

Mechanical Movement

Even in the digital age, there's something reassuringly dependable about a good quality mechanical clock movement. Those springs and cogs are real - you can see, hear, and feel them every time you turn the winding key.

Service Rating:
Beautifully made, keeps very good time, very pleasing to have in a living room. But strangely the second lowest pitch of the tubular bells is sometimes completely out of tune.
